MOTIHARI: A case of extortion has been reported in Motihari, Bihar, in which unknown men demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore from a prominent doctor. The victim, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, runs Kavi Diagnostic Centre in Chatauni, a district of the city. The extortionists allegedly placed a copy of the letter in an envelope on the table in Dr. Sanjay Kumar’s cabin. The doctor found the envelope under a towel he uses to cover his laptop after he finished work on Monday.
According to the letter, the extortionists demanded 2 million rupees from Dr. Sanjay Kumar and threatened him with dire consequences if he contacted police. The incident has raised concern over the increase in extortion cases in Bihar in recent days.
The district SP Kantesh Kumar Mishra has deployed a team led by Sadar DSP Ranjan Kumar to investigate the incident. The team is scanning video footage of the diagnostic centre and surrounding areas to investigate the incident
