Naskar, a local TMC leader, alleged that some party workers who had recently defected from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were behind the unrest in the area. He also claimed that his party workers were thrashed during the incident.
However, Alok Das, a member of the opposition group, alleged that Naskar’s loyalists attacked one of his supporters with weapons the previous night.
