Sushil Modi Accuses Bihar Government of Influencing YouTuber Manish Kashyap’s Arrest in Tamil Nadu

PATNA: Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi has recently raised concerns regarding the functioning of the Bihar government, particularly in relation to the meeting of opposition unity and the arrest of renowned Bihar YouTuber Manish Sharma.

Sushil Modi took to Twitter to criticize the state government, alleging that over 100 BJP hoardings were removed during the opposition unity conference. He further claimed that large hoardings, which were erected through coercion against the advertising company, were also taken down. According to Sushil Modi, the Lalu-Nitish government has created a situation reminiscent of an emergency within the state.

Drawing attention to another issue, Sushil Modi questioned the Bihar government’s involvement in the arrest of YouTuber Manish Kashyap by the Tamil Nadu government on sedition charges.

He also highlighted the alleged killings of several individuals associated with the right to information. Sushil Modi raised concerns about the freedom of the press and accused the Bihar government of influencing the arrest of Manish Kashyap.

It is important to note that the prominent Bihar YouTuber, Manish Kashyap (real name – Tripurari Tiwari), is scheduled to physically appear in the Bettiah court on June 27 for a case related to assault and extortion charges filed by BJP MLA Umakant Singh in 2020. The court has issued a production warrant against him in this regard.

According to the news report,  the Superintendent of Police, Economic Offenses Unit (EOU), regarding Manish Kashyap’s appearance in the Bettiah court on June 27. The Superintendent of Police stated that Manish Kashyap is appearing in the Bettiah court for another case and that the EOU had requested his remand, with the court assigning a remand date of June 29.

Currently, Manish Kashyap is held in Madurai jail on charges of circulating a fake video related to alleged violence against Bihari laborers in Tamil Nadu. He has been subjected to the imposition of the National Security Act (NSA), and the EOU has registered cases against him for financial manipulation.

The situation surrounding the arrest and legal proceedings against Manish Kashyap continues to unfold, raising questions about freedom of expression and the involvement of multiple government authorities in his case.
