Shimla. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu will be the new Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. The high command has stamped his name on Saturday. In Gulbarga, Himachal in-charge Rajeev Shukla and the Observer spoke to party president Mallikarjun Kharge. After this, Kharge talked to the Gandhi family and approved the name of Sukhu.
It is said that Sukhu’s name will be announced by this evening after discussing with other party leaders.
Started political journey during studies
Sukhu, a resident of Nadaun in Hamirpur district, had joined student politics only after obtaining a degree in law. He started his political career from NSUI and was elected General Secretary of CR and SCA in Sanjoli College. After this he was elected President of SCA in Government College Sanjauli. Be the state president of NSUI for 7 years i.e. from 1988 to 1995.
Sukhu may have been in the Congress for decades, but he has always been called the leader of the faction opposed to Virbhadra Singh. The story is that despite opposition from senior Congress leader Virbhadra Singh, he was made the state Congress president. After being in the Youth Congress for 10 years, when he contested the assembly elections from Nadaun in Hamirpur district, he went against many decisions of Virbhadra Singh. However, he had also contested and won this election. Along with this, he remained the President of the State Congress for a record time of 6 and a half years. He was removed from this post only three years ago. However, before the elections, the high command made him the chairman of the State Election Campaign Committee.
For the first time in his home district Hamirpur, Sukhu has put four out of five seats in Congress’s bag. With the victory of an independent candidate, this seat became completely BJP free. He is considered to have a very important role in the party. He also has a deep hold among the public. The existence of Lower Himachal is also believed to be in his favor. Because from here till now no one has sat on the post of Chief Minister.
