PALAMU (Jharkhand): Several people were injured in a clash between two groups belonging to different communities in Panki town of Jharkhand’s Palamu district on Wednesday, according to the report.
The clash occurred following an altercation over the damage to the welcome gate installed for the upcoming Shivratri festival in Panki bazar.
Apart from the local SDPO, some policemen have also been injured in this.
In view of the increasing tension in the area, Section 144 has been implemented. The administration says that the situation is under control.
According to the local people, about a dozen people from both the sides were injured due to stone pelting.

The case pertains to Masjid intersection of Panki block. There is ‘Raheveer Pahadi’ temple at a distance of 800 meters from there. Mahashivaratri fair was to be held here on 18th February.
Local people say that to go to this fair, an archway was being set up outside the mosque campus by the majority party.
Local youth Aftab Alam says that the local police station was informed about this gate at eight o’clock on Tuesday night.

The local police station came to the spot at eight o’clock in the night. Aftab says that he told the Hindu side that it is being looked at for the first time. For this, permission will have to be taken from the district administration.
Ten people from both the sides were called to the police station for discussion on this issue.
Meanwhile, people from both sides gathered in large numbers. Stone pelting started in no time.
Niranjan Singh, who tried to install the toran gate, says, “We had told the Muslim side that when you surround the road in marriage or festival, we do not protest. That’s why you people don’t oppose the archway.
