MOTIHARI: In a recent development, the Department of Labor Resources conducted raids at various places in East Champaran with the aim of freeing child laborers from prohibited work. The operation was led by Labor Superintendent Satya Prakash, who along with his team, visited several establishments in the Sugauli and Banjariya block areas to investigate the use of child labor.
During the raids, five child laborers were rescued from three different establishments in the Sugauli block area. One child laborer each was freed from Pawan Sweets Sugauli and Shivam Sweets, while three were rescued from Ply and Chiran Machine Phulwaria Sugauli. A case was immediately registered against the concerned establishments on the spot under the provisions of the Child and Adolescent Labor (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986.
Labor Superintendent Satya Prakash made it clear that the campaign to free child laborers from prohibited work will continue in East Champaran district. He emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of children and ensuring that they receive a proper education instead of being forced to work.
The use of child labor is a violation of human rights and is prohibited under the Child and Adolescent Labor (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986. The law provides for strict punishment for those who employ or engage children in prohibited work. The Department of Labor Resources is committed to eradicating child labor in the state and will continue to conduct such raids to ensure that children are not subjected to exploitation and abuse.
