Nawanshahr(Punjab): Senior citizens of Nawanshahr ushered in the New Year with a unique and vibrant celebration, aptly named Sashay Into 2025. The term “Sashay” symbolized their energetic and enthusiastic entry into the New Year. This grand event was spearheaded by prominent social worker Ashwani Joshi, who brought together the senior community to organize a dazzling entertainment extravaganza at a renowned hotel in the city.
During the event, Ashwani Joshi inspired everyone with his enthusiasm, and couples of all ages, including super seniors, danced and participated in fun-filled games. Gurcharan Arora praised Joshi’s efforts, stating that he fulfilled a long-standing cultural void in Nawanshahr that had remained untouched for the last 10–15 years. Dr. Jaswinder Singh announced that such traditions would be carried forward with zeal.
Prominent social worker Baljinder Singh attended the event with his family and unveiled two Punjabi books, Roohan Boldiyan and Rishtey Roohan De, authored by Surinder Sandhu. Additionally, Professor G.S. Sandhu released Ashwani Joshi’s Punjabi translation of an Urdu poetry book titled Aaina Taak.
The celebration featured Bollywood actress Jyoti Arora, Vasudev Pardesi, and Gurcharan Arora as entertainment judges. Professor G.S. Sandhu was honored with the Super Senior Award. Activities like the Balloon Couple Dance and Balloon Pair Dance brought joy to all participants. Awards for Best Dressed Lady, Best Dressed Gentleman, Best Funny Outfit, and Best Dance were distributed, adding to the excitement.
A lucky draw, tambola prizes, and New Year gifts for all attendees ensured that no one left empty-handed—many had to arrange bags to carry their goodies!
The stage came alive with performances of songs, dances, and acts by talented individuals, including Jeevan Pathak, Professor Krishan Lal Goel, Rakesh Kumar, Kailash Bali, Lalit Ohri, Prem Chhabra, Sukhdev Sharma, Jai Dev Goga, Kamini Goga, and Darshan Dardi.
The event concluded with smiles all around, as the senior citizens welcomed the New Year with unforgettable memories and immense joy.
