ODI World Cup 2023: The much-anticipated theme song for the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup is on the brink of its grand release, and cricket enthusiasts worldwide are eagerly awaiting its debut. The credit for crafting this melodious anthem goes to none other than the renowned Indian musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, who had previously composed the theme song for the 2011 World Cup.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the World Cup theme will be unveiled on September 20, 2023, at 12 pm IST. The announcement was made on social media, where the ICC shared a poster featuring prominent Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh wearing a navy blue shirt, maroon blazer, and matching hat. In the background, fans from different countries can be seen.

The ICC has not yet released any details about the theme, but it is sure to be a catchy and upbeat song that will get fans in the mood for the tournament.

Though details about the 2023 Cricket World Cup‘s theme song remain under wraps, it’s confirmed that the voices behind this musical masterpiece belong to the immensely popular Indian singers Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani, and Loy Mendonsa. What sets this composition apart is its multilingual appeal, with the trio crafting the tune in five languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and English. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, known for their exceptional talent, have garnered numerous accolades over the years, including the prestigious National Film Award (India), Filmfare Award, and IIFA Award.

Interestingly, before the world witnesses the cricketing extravaganza of the 2023 World Cup, a fierce battle for the top spot is unfolding among cricketing giants India, Australia, and Pakistan. What adds a unique twist to this rivalry is that these three musical maestros initially crossed paths as struggling singers in the bustling city of Mumbai during the early 1990s. Their shared passion for music soon blossomed into a lasting friendship.

The turning point in their careers arrived in 1995 when they composed the music for the film “Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na.” The soundtrack resonated with audiences, catapulting Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy to stardom as Bollywood composers. Their remarkable musical journey continued with the creation of chart-toppers for iconic Hindi films such as “Dil Chahta Hai,” “Kal Ho Na Ho,” “3 Idiots,” “Ra One,” and “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.”

Flashback to 2011, and the trio had the world swaying to the beat of ‘De Ghumake,’ the theme song they masterfully composed for the 2011 Cricket World Cup. Their contribution became etched in cricketing history as fans from around the globe embraced the infectious rhythm.

As the countdown to the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup gains momentum, fans are not only eager to witness the thrilling matches but also to experience the musical magic that Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have undoubtedly woven into the tournament’s theme song.
