Regrettably, the news doesn’t bode well for some players. Sanju Samson is unlikely to make the cut, and neither Tilak Verma nor the renowned Verma, who featured in the Asia Cup team, will find themselves on the World Cup roster. Additionally, Rishabh Pant, who suffered a car accident in December, won’t be part of the squad either.
Reports reveal that Ajit Agarkar, the chairman of the selection committee, has traveled to Sri Lanka to meet with Indian team captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid. Their discussions have reportedly resulted in the approval of the aforementioned players’ names.
While an official announcement is scheduled for Monday, it has been leaked that KL Rahul has already passed the fitness test, indicating his inclusion. Furthermore, Rohit Sharma is expected to take on the role of team captain, with Hardik Pandya as vice-captain.
The bowling department is set to feature formidable talents such as Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Akshar Patel. The wicket-keeping duties will likely be shared between KL Rahul and Ishaan Kishan.
In terms of all-rounders, the team will rely on the prowess of Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Akshar Patel, and Shardul Thakur to make significant contributions.
