KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of trying to break the country and targeting the Muslim community. Speaking at a program organized on the Red Road of Kolkata on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, she made a promise to protect the unity of the country, even if it means giving her life for it.
Banerjee emphasized that her government is committed to maintaining peace in West Bengal and preventing any attempts to divide the country. She also accused the BJP of trying to create communal tension in the state by spreading rumors and propaganda.

Furthermore, Banerjee criticized those who take money from the BJP and try to divide the Muslim votes. She made it clear that such attempts will not succeed and that her government will not tolerate any attempts to create communal tension in the state.
Banerjee’s comments come in the run-up to the assembly elections in West Bengal, which are scheduled for 2024. She challenged the BJP to compete with her party in a fair and transparent election.
The Chief Minister also expressed concern about the state of democracy in the country and the changes being made to the constitution and the history of the country. She stressed that democracy must be protected at all costs, as it is the foundation of a free and fair society.
In the program, Banerjee was accompanied by her nephew and Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee. The Trinamool Congress is the ruling party in West Bengal and has been in power since 2011.
