PATNA: In a surprising turn of events, the scheduled Tamil Nadu tour of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was abruptly canceled at the last moment. Instead, Minister Sanjay Jha embarked on the trip alongside Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav. According to reports, Tejashwi Yadav was left waiting for Nitish Kumar at the airport, but the Chief Minister failed to show up. Consequently, Minister Sanjay Jha was sent in his stead. It was initially planned for Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav to visit Chennai on Tuesday (June 20) and meet Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin to extend an invitation for an opposition meeting. The sudden cancellation of Nitish Kumar’s visit has raised several questions and sparked speculations.
The visit of Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav held significant importance in terms of fostering opposition unity. While their purpose was to invite CM Stalin to the opposition meeting, Stalin had planned to inaugurate important schemes in the presence of both leaders. It is worth mentioning that Stalin is organizing grand events across the state in honor of the birth centenary of his late father and former Tamil Nadu CM M. Karunanidhi. He had extended an invitation to Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav as well. Additionally, Nitish Kumar was scheduled to inaugurate the ‘Kalaignar Kottam’ complex, while Tejashwi Yadav was to inaugurate the ‘Muthuvellar’ library.
The sudden cancellation of Nitish Kumar’s tour raises questions about the circumstances surrounding it. Given the significance of the visit for opposition unity, many wonder why it was called off at the eleventh hour. Political analysts speculate that Jitan Ram Manjhi, who is currently in Delhi, might play a role in this development. Manjhi is expected to meet with Amit Shah in Delhi, and there are possibilities that a deal to rejoin the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) might be finalized and announced. The absence of Nitish and Tejashwi during such a pivotal political shift in the state could have had consequences for the Grand Alliance. Nitish Kumar’s cancellation of the tour is seen as a calculated move to address the situation appropriately.
On the other hand, some believe that Nitish Kumar himself is facing confusion due to the growing dominance of the Congress party. There are speculations that if he is not declared as the prime ministerial candidate, he might consider changing course once again. These developments have added an air of uncertainty to the political landscape, leaving many to ponder the future trajectory of Nitish Kumar’s political alliances and aspirations.
