DK Sivakumar, who has won another seat in the Kanakapura parliament, has held the constituency since 2008 and has proved popular with voters.
Another leading candidate is former Prime Minister Sidaramaiah, who served as head of state from 2013 to 2018. Siddharamaiah previously said this would be his last election. In the Karnataka general elections that just concluded on Saturday, the parliament won a spectacular victory, winning 135 of the 224 parliamentary seats, while the BJP won just 66 seats.
With all eyes on the Congressional Legislative Party meeting, political observers and citizens alike are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the next prime minister on the decisions that will shape the future of Karnataka.
