ITBP bus crashes on riverbed in Kashmir’s Pahalgam, six jawans killed

Jammu and Kashmir: ITBP (Indo Tibetan Border Police) bus has crashed in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Six ITBP personnel have died while several soldiers were injured, after a civil bus carrying 39 personnel of the security forces plunged into riverbed near the Frislan village of Pahalgam.

The injured are being taken to the Army Hospital in Srinagar.

Out of the 39 jawans, 37 ITBP personnel and two Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel were in the bus. The jawans eho were deputed in the area for the amaranth Yatra, were on their way from Chandawari to Pahalgam.

The pictures coming from the spot show the bus badly damaged. The bus fell down after its brakes reportedly failed.

The Border Security Force has informed in a tweet that the bus carrying the soldiers returning from the duty of Amarnath Yatra has fallen into a deep gorge.

The bus has fallen into the river down a slope between Sadhupadav and Chandanwadi.

BSF personnel deployed nearby have reached the spot and all of them are involved in the rescue work.
