Bettiah: Three killed after High-Speed Thar vehicle mows down six people in late night road accident

Bettiah– In a devastating road accident that occurred late on Monday night, a high-speed Thar vehicle struck six pedestrians before colliding with the guard of a service lane. The collision resulted in the immediate death of three victims, including a woman, while three others sustained injuries. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene following the incident, leaving the damaged vehicle behind. Local authorities, upon receiving the information, swiftly arrived at the site to commence an investigation into the matter. The police have taken possession of the damaged vehicle and have sent the deceased bodies for postmortem examination.

Upon news of the incident, a large crowd swiftly gathered at the scene, reflecting the shock and concern among the community. SP D Amarkesh of Bettiah, along with several police officers, promptly arrived at the location. The injured victims were immediately rushed to the GMCH (General Medical College and Hospital) for necessary medical attention. The incident has generated significant anger among the gathered crowd, who are deeply saddened and disturbed by the tragic turn of events.

According to the report, the speeding vehicle, traveling from Manuapul towards Bettiah, lost control near Green Field School, striking two motorcyclists, one cyclist, and three pedestrians. Subsequently, the vehicle collided with the guard of the service lane. Witnesses also allege that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, exacerbating the severity of the accident.

The deceased victims have been identified as Sameer from Khusukpur in Kalibagh, Nitesh Kumar from Gurwali, and Sapna Devi from Chuhri. The injured individuals have been identified as Kundan Kumar and Sukhal Kumar. According to local residents, the vehicle involved in the accident is registered under the name of Ranvijay Singh, a resident of Bharpatia village in Manuapul. It is reported that Singh’s son was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident and was allegedly intoxicated.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local, leaving the relatives of the deceased in a state of anguish as they mourn their loss. Authorities are actively working to apprehend the driver, who fled the scene following the accident. The investigation will shed light on the circumstances leading to the tragic incident and ascertain any criminal liability.
