AI & Internet of Things open new opportunities for youth, Science City Organized Science Fest 2023

Science City: Innovation Hub, Pushpa Gujral Science City organized Science Fest 2023 to promote innovation and creativity amongst the school students through development of working models in the various fields of Science & Technology. The theme of the event was “ Science, Technology and Innovation for Societal Transformation” More than 350 students from different schools of Punjab participated and showcased their interactive innovative models at this occasion.


Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director, Science City in his address to the participants emphasized the critical role of innovation and creativity in today’s dynamic world. He underscored that these elements serve as the foundation of progress, propelling advancements in technology, business, and society on a grand scale. Further, the emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things has opened up new frontiers and brought about unprecedented opportunities. He encouraged the participants to embrace these technologies, citing them as fertile ground for innovative solutions spanning various industries, including healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and education. Dr. Grover urged the students not to stifle their curiosity and shouldn’t be afraid asking seemingly silly questions in class or any other inhibitions should not dampen their inquisitive spirit to foster continuous learning and innovation.


Er. Ritesh Pathak Scientist D, PGSC said that Innovation Hub has been setup at PGSC Kapurthala with the objective to promote innovativeness and engage the youth towards creativity as well as provide them an appropriate platform to display their ingenuity and innovativeness in an informal and playful environment. He appealed to the youngsters to come up with innovative ideas and use this platform to develop in to a working prototype. At this occasion experts from NIT Jalandhar, Thapar Patiala & IKGPTU Jalandhar evaluated the innovative projects presented by the students.


Result of the Science Fest 2023 : Guru Amardass Sen. Secondary School Ucha Bet ( Project: Solar Air Cooler) got first prize, Second prize has been received by Govt. Sen. School (Project: Handmade Paper from Non Wood Fibber) and Govt. Sen. Sec. School Randhawa Mansdan(Project: Recycle of waste cigarette butts) stood third Prize.
