MUMBAI: Controversy continues to surround the highly anticipated Bollywood film ‘Adipurush’ even before its release. The movie has faced objections and criticisms regarding its dialogues and certain scenes. Adding to the mounting concerns, the All-India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has recently sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing their grievances against ‘Adipurush’. The letter provides a detailed account of the objectionable content portrayed in the film and urges for the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against director Om Raut, while demanding a ban on the movie.
Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, the President of AICWA, in his letter to PM Modi, appeals for the immediate ban of ‘Adipurush’, stating, “This is not our Ramayana. All India Cine Workers Association demands a ban on the screening of the film Adipurush. The screenplay and dialogues of the film blatantly insult Lord Ram and Hanuman. Adipurush is hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus and Sanatan Dharma followers.”
All India Cine Workers Association write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting him to "stop screening the movie and immediately order a ban of #Adipurush screening in the theatres and OTT platforms in the future.

The letter further asserts, “Lord Ram is revered as a deity by everyone in India, yet in the film, both Lord Ram and Ravana are portrayed as characters in a video game. The dialogues in the film are causing distress to Indians worldwide. We request the Honorable Prime Minister to intervene, halt the screening of this film, and prevent its release on any OTT or other platforms in the future.”
Referring to the film as the “most embarrassing film in history,” the letter emphasizes the need for an FIR against the director (Om Raut), writer (Manoj Muntashir), and producer, in order to preserve the image of Lord Shri Ram, Mata Sita, and the devoted Ramsevak Lord Hanuman. The AICWA questions the involvement of actors Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, stating that they should not have participated in what they perceive as a disrespectful portrayal of Lord Ram and the epic Ramayana.
The controversy surrounding ‘Adipurush’ signifies a larger issue of faith being challenged, as the film’s content is viewed as an assault on the beliefs held sacred by devotees of Shri Ram and the revered Ramayana. As the debate continues, the fate of the film’s release and its potential impact on public sentiment remain uncertain.
